Literary it means squeezing. Warm medicated oil is squeezed and applied over the patient’s body in a rhythmic way from a piece of cloth that is periodically dipped in a vessel which contains the oil.
To begin with, the patient is seated on a droni with his/her legs outstretched and two masseurs stand on both sides. The masseurs start squeezing the linen cloth dipped in the oil on the shoulders, then moves down the body of the patient. Each masseurs use one hand to pour the oil while massaging with the other.
This treatment is carried out under the supervision of a medical specialist and it may last from one to one and half hour per day.
