Conditions We Address
Not One Condition —
A Spectrum of
Metabolic Concerns
Metabolic and lifestyle disorders arise from prolonged imbalances in diet, activity, sleep, and stress — often progressing silently before symptoms become apparent. At Pranavam Ayurveda, each condition is approached individually based on the patient's dosha constitution, disease stage, and underlying causative factors.
Diabetes & Pre-Diabetes
Chronic impairment of glucose metabolism leading to elevated blood sugar, fatigue, and systemic complications. Classically described as Prameha in Ayurveda — a Kapha and Vata-driven condition affecting the Medovaha and Mutravaha Srotas, treated through targeted internal medicines and Panchakarma.
PramehaObesity & Weight Imbalance
Excess accumulation of body fat driven by sedentary habits, poor diet, and impaired Agni. Known as Sthaulya in Ayurveda, this Kapha-dominant condition involves congestion of the Medovaha Srotas and is addressed through Udwarthanam, herbal therapies, and metabolic correction.
SthaulyaThyroid Disorders
Imbalances in thyroid function — hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism — affecting metabolism, energy, weight, and mood. Ayurveda approaches thyroid dysfunction through Agni regulation, Kapha and Vata balancing, and physician-prescribed herbal formulations tailored to the individual's presentation.
GalagandaHypertension
Persistent elevation in blood pressure linked to chronic stress, dietary habits, and systemic Pitta and Vata aggravation. Ayurvedic management focuses on Shirodhara, Virechana, lifestyle correction, and targeted internal medicines to support long-term cardiovascular balance.
Raktagata VataHigh Cholesterol & Dyslipidaemia
Elevated lipid levels resulting from impaired fat metabolism, sluggish Agni, and Ama accumulation. Classically understood through the Medovaha Srotas, Ayurvedic treatment includes Lekhana therapies, Virechana Panchakarma, and individually prescribed herbal medicines.
Medovaha Sroto DushtiChronic Fatigue & Burnout
Persistent exhaustion, low vitality, and mental fog caused by overexertion, poor sleep, and systemic Ojas depletion. Ayurveda addresses this through Rasayana therapies, Abhyanga, Shirodhara, and comprehensive lifestyle and dietary restructuring guided by the treating physician.
Ojas KshayaAyurvedic Therapies
Classical Treatments,
Individually Prescribed
Metabolic conditions each carry distinct dosha patterns and root causes. The therapies below are selected and combined by our physicians based on your specific diagnosis, constitution, and lifestyle — never as a fixed package.
Purgation Panchakarma
Virechana
Medicated therapeutic purgation using physician-prescribed herbal formulations to eliminate excess Pitta and Ama from the Rakta, Pitta Sthanas, and digestive channels. Considered one of Ayurveda's most effective interventions for metabolic disorders, Virechana resets Agni, reduces inflammatory markers, and clears the Medovaha Srotas.
Classical Indication
Prameha, dyslipidaemia, skin disorders with metabolic origin, Pitta-dominant hypertension, and Ama accumulation in the digestive and metabolic channels.
Physician Note
Virechana is preceded by Snehapana (internal oleation) and Abhyanga. Suitability, formulation, and programme duration are individually assessed before commencement.
Dry Powder Massage
Udwarthanam
A vigorous dry herbal powder massage performed in the opposite direction to hair follicles, stimulating circulation, breaking down subcutaneous fat deposits, and reducing Kapha accumulation. Among Kerala Ayurveda's most valued therapies for obesity, weight management, and metabolic sluggishness.
Classical Indication
Sthaulya, Kapha-dominant metabolic disorders, obesity, poor skin tone, lymphatic congestion, and dyslipidaemia as classically described.
Physician Note
Herbal powder combination and session intensity are tailored individually. Udwarthanam may be combined with other therapies depending on the patient's clinical picture.
Continuous Oil Stream Therapy
Shirodhara
A continuous, rhythmic stream of warm medicated oil poured gently over the forehead, targeting the hypothalamus and calming the entire nervous system. Classically used in Ayurveda for stress-driven metabolic imbalances, hypertension, insomnia, and conditions where chronic mental strain has disrupted the body's regulatory systems.
Classical Indication
Stress-related hypertension, anxiety-driven metabolic disorders, chronic fatigue, insomnia, and systemic Vata-Pitta aggravation involving the nervous system.
Physician Note
Oil formulation (sesame, medicated, buttermilk-based) and session duration are selected based on individual assessment and the condition being addressed.
Full-Body Medicated Oil Massage
Abhyanga
A full-body therapeutic massage using warm medicated oils, performed by trained therapists in coordinated strokes. Abhyanga supports lymphatic drainage, improves tissue nutrition, balances Vata, and is foundational to most physician-designed metabolic care programmes at Pranavam Ayurveda.
Classical Indication
Pre-Panchakarma preparation, chronic fatigue, Vata disorders, peripheral neuropathy in diabetic patients, and daily constitutional care as classically described.
Physician Note
Oil selection and massage protocol are determined individually after physician assessment. Abhyanga is often a preparatory step for deeper Panchakarma interventions.
Rejuvenation Therapy
Rasayana
A classical Ayurvedic rejuvenation protocol using specific herbal formulations, dietary guidelines, and lifestyle practices designed to rebuild Ojas, strengthen Agni, and restore vitality at the cellular level. Rasayana is particularly indicated when metabolic disorders are accompanied by profound fatigue, immunity depletion, or significant tissue debility.
Classical Indication
Ojas depletion, chronic fatigue syndrome, post-illness recovery, age-related metabolic decline, and immune deficiency as classically described.
Physician Note
Rasayana formulations (Chyawanprash, Ashwagandha, Amalaki) and the administration protocol are tailored to each patient's Prakriti and current condition.
Emesis Panchakarma
Vamana
Medicated therapeutic emesis designed to eliminate excess Kapha from the stomach, lungs, and upper body channels. One of the five Panchakarma therapies, Vamana is traditionally considered the primary intervention for Kapha-dominant metabolic conditions — including obesity, insulin resistance, and conditions involving mucus or lipid accumulation in the upper body.
Classical Indication
Kapha-dominant Prameha, obesity with upper-body heaviness, dyslipidaemia, hypothyroid presentations, and chronic Ama accumulation in the Kapha Sthanas.
Physician Note
Vamana requires careful pre-procedure preparation and strict suitability assessment. It is performed only under physician supervision with detailed monitoring throughout.

Disorders — FAQs
Answers to questions we hear most often from patients considering Ayurvedic metabolic care at Pranavam.
Ayurveda may support the management of Type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes through personalised herbal medicines, Panchakarma therapies, dietary correction, and lifestyle restructuring. All treatment is physician-guided and designed to complement — not replace — any existing medical management the patient is following.
Ayurvedic management of obesity focuses on correcting impaired Agni, clearing Ama from the metabolic channels, and reducing Kapha accumulation through therapies such as Udwarthanam, Virechana, and physician-prescribed herbal formulations. Results depend on the individual's constitution, adherence, and severity of the condition.
Yes. Patients are advised not to discontinue any existing medications without guidance from their conventional physician. At Pranavam, our physicians are informed of all current medications and design the Ayurvedic treatment programme accordingly, working alongside your existing care plan.
Dietary guidance is a core part of any metabolic treatment programme at Pranavam. Your physician will provide specific recommendations based on your constitution, current condition, and the therapies prescribed — adjustments are individual, not generic.
Programme duration depends on the specific condition, its severity, and the therapies involved. A physician consultation will clarify the recommended length. Most metabolic programmes benefit from an initial intensive phase followed by ongoing outpatient management and dietary support.
Ayurvedic management for thyroid disorders focuses on restoring dosha balance, correcting Agni function, and supporting the Medovaha and Rasa channels through internal herbal medicines and indicated Panchakarma therapies. Suitability is assessed after physician consultation and review of current thyroid investigations.
All treatment at Pranavam Ayurveda is personalised — no fixed packages. Your therapies, herbal medicines, dietary guidance, and lifestyle protocol are designed following physician consultation based on your specific condition, constitution, and health history.
